You must go back and forth to collect the fur. If you go one way like a brush it doesn't roll the fur into a line in the center, which is why some reviews said it was hard to get the hair off the glove. I have a long very fluffy Siberian cat. This glove is amazing when used the correct way. Gets ALL the fur off my furniture and whatever she lays on. It rolls all the fur into the center and you just peel it off.
